Word of the Week: truculent (TRUCK-u-lent).

Threatening or sullen. The teenage boy wore a truculent look, and I feared he might mug me in a dark alley.

Writer’s Word of the Week: Query letter or email.

A query letter is a one-page letter sent to the acquisitions editor of a publisher or magazine to see if he or she would be interested in seeing your article or book proposal. In this letter, the writer gives a brief summation of the article or the book, mentions any previous writing credits, and lets the editor know how quickly the article or proposal could be submitted.
